AlabamaPower re seene,a n. sw October 23, 1984 Docket No. 50-364 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 4

Washington, D.C.

20555 Attention: Mr. S. A. Varga Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Unit 2 License Amendment No. 38 Gentlemen:

By letter dated December 12, 1983, Alabama Power Company submitted a proposed technical specification change, in accordance with Generic Letter 83-37, to incorporate several NUREG-0737 items into the technical specifications. This proposed technical specification change was approved on September 12, 1984 by the NRC as License Amendment No. 47 for Unit 1 and License Amendment No. 38 for Unit 2.

Recent reviews of License Amendment No. 38 have identified an administrative error that was in the original submittal to the NRC and is unrelated to the change made to incorporate the NUREG-0737 item into Technical Specification 3/4.6.4, " Combustible Gas Control-Hydrogen Analyzer s". This error was not included iif the Unit 1 equivalent page.

It was not the intent of Generic Letter 83-37 to change items in the Licensee's technical specifications unrelated to the NUREG-0737 Concerns.

A corrected page is attached for NRC Staff review and issuance.

This administrative error was included in a submittal to the NRC which predates the April 10, 1984 NRC letter which requested that more thorough reviews be performed on technical specifications changes for the express purpose of identifying typographical errors in areas of affected pages unrelated to the proposed change. Technical Specification changes, which have been submitted to the NRC subsequent to the April 10, 1984 letter, have received multiple proofing reviews to preclude the recurrence of this type of administrative error.

Alabama Power Company respectfully requests an expeditious review and issuance of the corrected page.
