Note:
On May 15, at 1006, with Unit 3 at 100% reactor power, RCP P003 tripped on neutral ground overcurrent. This
}
caused a reactor trip signal to be generated. A short circuit failure of the RCP P003 motor phsse "C" surge 4
protection capacitor occurs ad due to long term vibration-induced abrasion damage to the mylar plastic l
insulation within the capacitor assembly. The surge capacitors for all four Unit 3 RCPs were replaced with l
in-kind parts and the surge capacitors for the Unit 2 RCPs will be replaced during the next outage of
[
sufficient duration. The RCP motor preventative maintenance program will be modified to include an i
appropriate periodic examination, including testing, of the surge capacitors. Periodic replacement of the L
capacitors will be required as appropriate.
