Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On December 20, 1984, CP&L (Mr. F. E. Strehle) notified the NRC (Mr. A. Hardin) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The NRC was informed that conduit supports could fall due to the lack of installation criteria concerning the minimum distance conduit fasteners may be Installed from the end of B-line strut channels.
The Harris Plant Construction Section, in coordination with the Harris Plant Engineering Section, have assembled worst case conduit support samples for load testing and tests are in progress. In order to complete these tests, analyze test results, and establish design criteria for incorporation into design documents, additional time is required.
It is currently projected that a report on the reportability of this item will be issued by March 6,1985.
