Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On October 12,1984, Mr. N. J. Chiangi notified the NRC (Mr. D. Verrelli) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The NRC was informed that inadequate process controls for instrumentation installations have resulted in problems such as improper implementation of field change requests.
An evaluation effort is currently underway between Ebasco and CP&L to determine the disposition of this item. It is projected that a report on the reportability of this item will be issued by January 25,1985.
