AFFIDAVIT OF ROBERT W. HOOKS I, Robert W. Hooks being first duly sworn do herchy depose and say:
- 1. I am employed by Sargent & Lundy Engineers. My business address is 55 East Monroo Street, Chicago, Illi-nois, 60603. I am Assistant Division Head for the Struc-tural Engineering Division.
- 2. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering from the Ohio State University in 1971. I have thirteen years of experience in structural engineering and design of fossil and nucioar power plants. I am a Regis-tered Structural Engincor in Illinois. I am a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
- 3. I began my carcar as a Structural Engineer at Sargent & Lundy in 1971. I worked on several fossil projects and on the Clinton Nuclear Station. In 1973, I was promoted to Sonior Structural Engineer and continued to work on Clinton, where I was responsibic for design of soveral of the structures. In 1977, I was promoted to Supervising Design Engineer. In that position I was responsible for the structural design activities for carrol County and then for 8410050657 841002 gDRADOCK 05000454 PDR
Marble Hill. In 1982, I was promoted to my current position and became responsible for Byron, Braidwood, and Marble Ilill.
- 4. As an Assistant Division llead, I manage and coor-dinate the work performed by the Structural Engineering Division for the projects assigned to me. Currently, these include Byron and Braidwood. Personnel from the Structural Engineering Division are responsible for preparation, review and approval of nearly all structural design engineering cal-culations. I reviewed the NRC's Integrated Design Inspection (IDI) Report of September 30, 1983 and participated in the preparation of the responses to the questions raised in the IDI Report regarding structural design at Byron.
- 5. I have been asked by counsel for Commonwealth Edison Company to address the IDI findings regarding struc-tural design at Byron which are referenced at pages 14-15 of Intervenor's Motion to Reopen the Byron licaring Record filed September 12, 1984. My discussion of these matters is set forth in the attached " Joint Statement of Kenneth J. Green and Robert W. Ilooks." Specifically, I was responsible for the statements which address IDI Fit Is 4-1 and 4-2. Those statements are true and correct to the best of my information and belief, c 4/ );I /
