Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On July 27, 1984, Mr. N. J. Chiangi notified the NRC (Mr. A. Hardin) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The NRC was informed that contrary to the requirements of AISC Section 5, washers were not placed on both sides of plied ~ connections for pipe frame C-1-364 when oversized or short slotted holes existed.
An investigation is currently underway to-identify other connections which may be suspect. Once our investigation is complete, an engineering evaluation will be performed to determine acceptability.
It is projected that a report on the reportability of this item will be issued by October 23, 1984.
