SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY DEFECTS IN LUBE OIL PUMP DISCHARGE NOZZLES HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On April 25, 1984, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr. E. C.

McCabe, advising of a potentially significant construction

-deficiency regarding cracked bosses on our Diesel Generator lube oil pump discharge nozzles. On May 25 and July 18, 1984, interim reports were submitted to your office. The following information is provided in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e).

Our Architect / Engineer and Constructor, Bechtel, has advised us that Colt Industries has rescheduled their onsite inspection of the Hope Creek Diesel Generators. No firm date for the completion of repairs can be established until Colt has inspected the equipment and determined a suitable method of  ;

correcting the deficiency. Bechtel has committed to provide us with a viable schedule for the completion of repairs by September 21, 1984. By September 28, 1984, we will provide you with a description of the corrective action and the date by which the repairs will be completed.
