11/15/91 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTil:

October 1991 McGuire Unit 2 began the month of October operating at 100% full power.

The unit operated at or near 100% full power until 0443 on 10/04, when a load reduction was commenced to cake the unit of f-line due to a petential containment leakage path through untested containment spray system valves. The unit was taken off-line at 1054 on 10/04.

At 0938 on 10/08, the unit was placed back on line.

During the subsequent power increase, the unit was held at 30t power from 1215 to 2010 on 10/08 tor chemir. cry.

The unit reached 100% full power at 1740 on 10/09, and opecated at or near 100% full power until 1030 on 10/24, when the digi';al electro 1ydraulic computer indication for turbine governor valse #4 was lost.

A load reduction was begun at 1340 on 10/24 to close this valve for repair. The anit reached 906 power at 1510 on 1024. At 1530 a "n.ini-runback" to 70% power occurred due to the governor valve closing t r.pidly causing the steam dump to actuate.

At 1745 on 10/24, a load inc: case u s begun. The unit reached 100%

fu'l power at 0800 on 10/25, and operated at 100% full power for the remainder of the month.
