As defined by Technical Specifications f or the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Section 6.7.A.c we are reporting the following Abnomal Occurrence na A0-72-04 and confirming our telephone conversation with your office on this date.
On September 19, 1972, an alam annunciated in the main control.
room indicating a leak in the hellous of the main steam relief valve located on main steam Ifne D.
The failure of the bellows could render the ona relief valve incapable of automatically relieving reactor steam prenaure at its act point of 1075 paig (1080 paig +1%, Technical Specificationa Section 2.2.B).
The failed beIIn.sa in no way hinders the operation of the Automatic Depraasurization Systeta (ADS) or the reactor operatore ability to manually operate the relief valve. Although the ADS is not considered inoperable, the High Prosauro Coolant Injection Syutem was tested and demonstrated to be operabic immediately after the discovery of the fatled bellows.
