The purpose of this ietter is to inform you of the details concerning main steam line high temperature isolation temocrature switches which were found with setpoints exceeding Technical Specification 3.2.A.

PROBLEM AND INVESTIGATION On April 15, 1974, with unit one in the cold shutdcun condition for the re-fueling outage, routine surveillance calibration was performed on the sixteen main steam line high temperature isolation temperature switches., Fourteen of the sixteen switches were found with setpoints in excess of 6 2000 F as specified in Table 3.2.1 of the Technical Specifications. The "as found" setpoints for these switches are:
