The cause of failure of the Core Spray System snubber was a loss of the hydraulic fluid. This snubber has not been rebuilt since April 1973 and probably has never been rebuilt . The type of seal material in this unit is of the millabic r,un 1)olyure-thane or cast polyurethane type.
ANALYSIS OF The safety significance of this occurrence was a partial loss OCCllRRiiNCE :
of the seismic rest raining ability for the affected system. Ilad the plant suffered a design basis earthquake, the probability t h at this system would have suffered structural damage was in-creased.
