NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTHr February 1995 Catawba Unit 1 began the month of February operating at 100% full power. The unit operated at or near 100% full. power until.02/08/95 at 0300, when the unit decreased to 95% to perform main steam safety valve testing. The unit decreaed to 92% power to correct T-AVG /T-REF deviation on 02/09/95 at.1451 and held from 1812 to 02/10/95 at 1500 when the unit started decreasing power to begin end-of-cycle 08 refueling outage. The unit was taken off-line 02/10/95 at 2318 for end-of-cycle 08 refueling outage. The unit.was in the refueling outage the remainder of the month.

NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

-MONTH: February 1995 Catawba Unit 2 began the month of February operating at 100% full-power. On02/21/95 at:2154-the unit experienced a reactor / turbine trip due to closure of steam' generator

'B' main steam isolation valve caused by a bad optical isolator. On 02/23/95 at 0030 a condenser cooling water leak became critical path until 02/25/95

at 2345, when the closure of steam generator

'B' main steam isolation valve resumed as critical path. The unit did not return to service during the month of February, 1995.
