Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

On September 2,1983, Mr. K. V. Hate' notified the NRC (Mr. P. Bemis) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) and 10CFR, Part 21.

The NRC was informed that vendor weld deficiencies were noted by CP&L in sections of Bus Duct numbers CC-1 and CC-2 and Transformer numbers IDI, ID2, IEl, and IE2 received from Gould-Brown-Boveria, Chalfont, Pennsylvania.

CP&L is currently investigating this item and awaiting a response from the vendor.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
