On December 29, 1982, Mr. A. Hardin of the NRC was notified of a potentially reportable item per provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). . The deficiencies consisted of undersized bolts and ' flame cut bolt holes (which are oversize and exceed minimum edge distance) in bolted structural connections in the seismically designed Unit No. 1 Turbine Building.
Interim Report NRC-35 stated that this connection was being evaluated in conjunction with Items 90, 92, and 112, and that reinspection of structural connections was continuing in order to identify any additional examples of these and any other structural connection deficiencies. Reinspection and evaluation was projected to be complete by April 15, 1983.
Reinspection of both the Turbine No. 1 and Containment No. 1 Buildings is complete. ~All deficiencies noted have been referred to Ebasco Services where they are being evaluated in conjunction with Items 92 and 102. (Item 90 was identified as non-reportable.)
We expect the evaluation to be complete by December 31, 1983. For this reason,
- we request an extension until January 12, 1984 for submitting a report on the reportability of this item.
