Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On May 3, 1983, Mr. N. J. Chiangi notified the NRC (Mr. A. Hardin) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The NRC was informed that verification of anchor bolt material type was not being performed when tags were lost. A dimensional check only was being per-formed.
Since several different ASTM grades of anchor bolts were being installed, and some of these were dimensionally identical, all anchor bolts were suspect.
Our investigation has reduced the number of suspect anchor bolts to approximately 250. These anchor bolts are currently being evaluated by engineering and this evaluation is expected to be complete by August.
For this reason, we request an extension until August 5, 1983 for submitting a report on the reportability of this item.
