Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

On December 2, 1982, Mr. C. Hehl of the NRC was notified of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) and 10CFR, Part 21.
The reactor coolant pump motor frames from the vendor (Westinghouse) contained weld deficiencies.
At the present time, Westinghouse is still evaluating the welding on their frames and do not expect to be complete with this until the first part of March, 1983. For this reason, we would request an extension until March 11, 1983 for submitting a report on the reportability of this item.
