The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No.17 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-9, issued to Duke Power Company (licensee) for the McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (the facility) located in j
Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The anendment is effective 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> after I
its date of issuance.
The amendment pemits reduction in boron concentration in the boron injection tank from a nominal 20,000 ppa to 2,000 ppm, deletion of the Technical Specifica-tion on heat tracing for the boron injection tank, and revises minimum limit.for primary containment upper compartment average air temperature.
Issuance of this' amendment complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's regu-l lations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the 4
license amendment. Prior public notice of_ this amendment was not required since l
the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
The Commission has determined that the issuance of this amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement, or negative declaration and environ-mental impact appraisal need not be prepared in connection with issuance of _this amendment.
