Dear Mr. Denton:
In a letter dated January 20, 1983, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G) requested that several items in Table 3.3-3 of the Virgil C. Summer The NRC Staff approved Nuclear Station Technical Specifications be changed.
the requested changes in Amendment 10 to Facility Operating License NPF-12 for the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station. However, because of an administrative error, the change of item 8(b) to action statement 14, does not reflect our current request. As discussed with the NRC Staff, our suggested change to item 8(b) is action statement 21. The only difference between the two action statements is that action statement 14 requires proceeding to cold shutdown within thirty (30) hours and action statement 21 requires proceeding to hot shutdown within six (6) hours. Although the intent of both of these statements is similar, SCE&G considers statement 21 to be the most appropriate action in this case.
This change was previously reviewed and approved by the Plant Safety Review Committee and the Nuclear Safety Review Committee. Additionally, a check in the amount of twelve hundred dollars ($1200.00) was forwarded at the initial processing of this change.
