SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Docket No. 50-266 Unit Name Point Beach Unit.1 Date September 7, 1982 Completed By C. W. Fay Telephone 414/277-2811 Unit 1 operated at an average of 359 MWe net from August 1, 1982 to the end of the reporting period with one significant load reduction. Load was reduced to 238 MWe net for approximately 23.5 hours5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
to complete a condensor tube leak test. Five small leaks were detected and repaired in the No. 2 waterbox.

Other maintenance completed during the period included the annual inspection of the two instrument air compressors, comple-tion of the firestop inspection and the seal replacement of component cooling pumps 1PllA and 1PllB.

On the evening of August 31, 1982, testing of the original smoke detector system for the emergency Diesel generator area and the service water area found these detectors inoperable due to a blown fuse. This incident is still under investigation,

.however, a 30-day Licensee Event Report will probably be filed with the NRC.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Docket No. 50-301 Unit Name Point Beach Unit 2 Date September 7, 1982 4 Completed By C. W. Fay Telephone 414/277-2811-Unit 2 operated at an average of 472 MWe not from August 1, 1982 to the end of the period.with one shutdown.

The shutdown was the result of repairs to isolation valve 2-560A in the "A" loop of reactor coolant system's resistant temperature detection manifold, which developed a leak in the packing. Load reduction commenced on August 27, 1982 and Unit 2 turbine was taken off line at 0202 hours0.00234 days
0.0561 hours
3.339947e-4 weeks
7.6861e-5 months
on August 28, 1982.

The valve was replaced due to what is believed to be plug-stem separation. Maintenance also rebalanced the "A" reactor coolant pump, greased the containment fans and plugged 8 tubes in the "C" moisture separator reheater. Unit 2 turbine was synchronized back on line at 1137 hours0.0132 days
0.316 hours
0.00188 weeks
4.326285e-4 months
on August 29, 1982 and achieved full load at 1730 hours0.02 days
0.481 hours
0.00286 weeks
6.58265e-4 months
that same day.

Other maintenance completed during the period included the seal replacement of 2Pll6 boric acid recirculating pump and the replacement of the 2A charging pump vari-drive system.
