Dear Mr. Denton:

DOCKET 50-301 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-27

SUMMARY

TECHNICAL REPORT OF TYPE "A",

"B",

AND "C" CONTAINMENT LEAK TESTS In accordance with Section 15.4.4.I.D. of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant Technical Specifications and Section V.B. of 10 CFR 50 Appendix J, the following summary technical reports are submitted on the Type "A" containment integrated leakage rate test conducted during the April 1982 Unit 2 refueling shut-down and on Type "B" and "C" leak tests during the Unit 2 refueling shut-downs of March 1978 through April 1978, March 1979 through April 1979, April 1980 through May 1980, and April 1981 through May 1981.

The Type "A" test was performed by the Quadrex Corporation of Tulsa, Oklahoma for Wisconsin Electric.

We have reviewed and approved their report and have enclosed a summary report prepared in accordance with the format specified in ANSI /ANS 56.8 - 1981.

The complete report, which includes all procedures, equipment calibrations, test data, and results, will be retained by Wisconsin Electric and is available for NRC review at the plant.

A routine, announced NRC inspection by Mr. I.N. Jackiw was conducted during the performance of the Type "A"

integrated leakage rate test.

No items of non-compliance or deviations were identified.

Summary of Data The overall as-found leakage of the Type "A"

test was 0.1959% by weight per day of the containment atmosphere, or 97.5%

of the allowable rate.

The overall as-left leakage of the Type "A"

test was 0.0508% by weight per day of the containment atmosphere, or 25.3% of the allowable rate.

This includes the addition of the local tests of those penetrations which were not vented during the conduct of the Type "A" test in accordance with Appendix J to 10 CFR 50, Section III.A.l.d.

Mr. II.

R. Denton August 11, 1982 The overall as-found leakage of Type "B" and "C" tests conducted during the 1978 refueling was 43,223 cc per minute, or 18.7% of 0.6 La described in Section III.C.3 of Appendix J to 10 CFR 50.

Af ter repairs the overall leakage was 6,921 cc per minute, or 3.00% of 0.6 La.

The overall as-found leakage of Type "B" and "C"

tests conducted during the 1979 refueling was 376,819 cc per minute, or 163.05% of 0.6 La.

After repairs the overall leakage was 6,057 cc per minute, or 2.62% of 0.6 La.

The overall as-found leakage of Type "B" and "C" tests conducted during the 1980 refueling was 194,591 cc per minute, or 84.20% of 0.6 La.

After repairs the overall leakage was 2,957 cc per minute, or 1.28% of 0.6 La.

The overall as-found leakage of Type "B" and "C" tests conducted during the 1981 refueling was 47,449 cc per minute, or 20.53% of 0.6 La.

Af ter repairs the overall leakage was 5,603 cc per minute, or 2.42% of 0.6 La.

All Type "B" and "C"

test results obtained between the aforementioned refueling periods and prior to the Type "A"

test of April 1982 comprise Enclosure 1 to the attached report.

All similar test data obtained during each of the aforementioned refueling periods comprise Enclosure 2. contains comments made in regard to all as-found leakage rates which approach or exceed 0.6 La.

Very truly yours, W#'
