1 DOCKET; 50-370 UNIT: McGuire 2 Date: 10/15/93 NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
MONTH: September 1993 McGuire Unit 2 began the month of September in end-of-cycle 8 refueling outage. The unit was taken off-line to started end-of-cycle 8 refueling outage on 7/1 at 0600. The unit remained in the refueling outage until 9/14 at 1344. The refueling outage was extended by 7.73 hours8.449074e-4 days
0.0203 hours
1.207011e-4 weeks
2.77765e-5 months
beyond the original planned duration. During power escalation, the unit held at 17% power from 1515 to 2129 for power range trip adjustments and auxiliary feedwater flow balancing. The unit held at 30% power from 9/15 at 0457 to 1407 for flux mapping and chemistry. The unit held at 38% power from 1620 to 9/16 at 0047 for nuclear instrumentation calibrations, and at 60% power from 1140 to 2137 for flux mapping. The unit held at 90% power from 9/17 at 1215 to 9/21 at 0233 due to a flux depression, identified at 30% and 60% power.
The unit was returned to 100% full power on 9/21 at 0630. The unit commenced a power decrease on 9/27 at 1640 due to an unidentified reactor coolant system leak greater than 1 gpm. The unit was removed from service at 1846. The leak was identified on the letdown header manual isolation valve.
The unit entered the planned steam generator inspection outage on 9/29 and remained in the outage for the remainder of the month.
