SUBJECT:
CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION FOR AMENDMENT REQUEST DATED JULY 24, 1990 By letters dated July 24,1990, and ' tober 24, 1990, IRT requested an amendment to License No. SNM-1405 to reflect a decrease in IRT's possession limits for special nuclear material.
The sintered fuel pellets will be removed from the inventory and disposed of as waste.
The plutonium sealed source limit will be reduced from 6 grams to 1 gram.
The possession limit for uranium (enriched to
>20 w/o U-235) will be reduced from 35 grams to 32 grams.
By letter dated October 24, 1990, IRT requested authorization to store the PuBe neutron sources at either the Arjons Road manufacturing facility or the Callan Road laboratory facility.
All other special nuclear material authorized by this license will only be stored at the Arjons Road location.
Reducing the amount of special nuclear material maintained by IRT will not affect the public health and safety or the environment.
Because the provisions of 10 CFR 51.22(c)(11) have been met, neither an Envirorimental Assessment nor an Environmental Impact Statement is necessary for this proposed action.
