REGULATION ENTITLED

  • STANDARDS FOR THE TRE LOW LEVEL RADIDACTIVE WASTE" s

)

The above-captioned draft IDNS re the Comonwealth Edison Company. gulation was recently provided to us by telephone, that the NRC provide coments on this draft regulation.F Accordingly, we request a femal 0GC and program office review of regulation.

In particular, we wish to ensure that the IDNS regulation is consistent with any applicable limitations or requirements of the Low-L Radioactive Waste Policy Act, as amended,10 CFR Part 61, and Illinois authorit example,y under its Agreement State comitments.

Proposed Section 607.40, for appears to subject federal facilities 9enerating low-level radioactive waste in Illinois, such as VA hospitals and the military, to compliance w these rules which would include reviews, approvals and inspectio Similarly, power reactors and other licensees not under the jurisdict these certification requirements, which would in by IDNS employees.

Please provide us with a response as soon as possible.
