Letter, J. J. Carey,to S. A. Varga, April 1,1982 The inservice inspection program for Beaver Valley L* nit 1 is based on the requirements of the 1974 Fdition through Summer 1975 Addenda of Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. By the referenced letter Duquesne Light notified the HRC that the Acceptance Criteria in the 1977 Edition of Section XI for surface examination of statically and centrif-ugally cast reactor coolant piping were being applied at Beaver Valley Unit 1.

We have reviewed this change to the requirements of the 1977 Edition of Section XI. We find this change acceptable and Duquesne Light to be in compliance with 10 CFR 50.5Sa(g)(4)(IV) which allows the examination of comoenents to meet the requirunents set forth in subsequent editions and addenda of Section XI that are incorporated by reference in 10 CFR 50.55A(b), subject to Comission approval. By this letter, approval is granted to Duquesne Light to use the Acceptance Criteria for surface examination in the 1977 Edition of Section XI. This change should be reflected in the existing inservice inspection program.
