5 APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Virginia Electric Power Company Docket No. 50-281 i
Surry 2 License No. DPR-37 As a result of the inspection conducted on April 19-23 and 26-30,1982, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy, 47 FR 9987 (March 9, 1982), the following violation was identified.
Technical Specification 4.1.A. requires that calibration shall be performed as detailed in Table 4.1-1.
Item 14 of Table 4.1-1 identifies the Boric Acid Tank level instruments as requiring calibration during each refueling 4
shutdown.
j Contrary to the above, Boric Acid Tank level instrument L-1-163 was r.ct i
calibrated during the Unit 2 refueling shutdown which was concluded on December 28, 1981, nor had this instrument been calibrated as of April 29, 1982. A satisfactcry calibration was performed on April 30, 1982.
This is a Severity Level V Violation (Supplement I).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) admission or denial of the alleged viola-tion; (2) the reasons for the violation if admitted; (3) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (4) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (5) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
