This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. W. P. Kleinsorge
of this office on January 26-29, 1982, of activities authorized by NRC Operating
License Nos. DPR-33, DPR-52 and DPR-68 for the Browns Ferry facility. Our pre-
liminary findings were discussed with Mr. G. T. Jones, Plant Superintendent, at
the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in- the

enclosed inspection report.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of

selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with
!_
personnel, and observations by the inspector.

During the inspection, it was found that certain activities under your license
appear to violate NRC requirements.
This item and references to pertinent

requirements are listed in the Notice of Violation enclosed herewith as

Appendix A.
Elements to be included in your response are delineated in
Appendix A.

We have examined actions you have taken with regard to previously identified

enforcement matters. These are discussed in the enclosed inspection report.

One new unresolved item is identified in the enclosed inspection report. This

item will be examined during subsequent inspections.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures will
be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room unless you notify this office, by

telephone, within ten days of the date.of this letter and submit written appli-

cation to withhold information contained thereir. within thirty days of the date
of this letter.
Such application must be consistent with the requirements of
