Subject:
Virgil C. Sumer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Technical Specifications
Dear Mr. Denton:
Mr. Youngblood's letter of May 10, 1982, identified in Enclosure 2 three Technical Specifications that reain open. The following information is provided to close these ites.
1.
Specification 3/4.3.2, " Engineered Safety Features Actuation Instrumentation."
The manual Phase "B" Isolation (Item 3.b.1 of Table 3.3-3) has been eliminated because this function is performed by the manual switches already listed for the Reactor Building Spray (Item 2.a of Table 3.3-3).
The manual Purge and Exhaust Isolation (Item 3.c.1 of Table 3.3-3) has also been eliminated because this function is performed by the manual switches already listed for Safety Injection (Item 1.a),
Reactor Building Spray (It s 2.a) or Phase "A" Isolation (Itsn 3.a.1).
Enclosed is Page 3/4 3-18 with the proposed change. Also pages 3/4 3-26 and 3/4 3-36 are enclosed marked with the corresponding changes for Table 3.3-4 and 4.3-2.
2.
Specification 3/4.9.11, " Spent Fuel Pool Ventilation System."
Please disregard the proposed change to this Specification transmitted by my April 12, 1982 letter, to Mr. Denton. The ventilation system design requires that one exhaust fan operates continuously. The March 3, 1982, revision of this Specification in the Proof and Review Copy of the Sumer-Unit 1 Technical Specifications is acceptable.
3.
Specification 3/4.6.4, " Containment Isolation valves."
Enclosed is a revised Table 3.6-1 which includes the additional valves defined by Mr. Hearn of the NRC staff in his telephone conversation with Mr. L. D. Shealy on May 10, 1982.
