Dear Mr. Morisi:

CRAT5 gqQ)

SUBJECT:

NUREG-0737 ITEM II.F.1-2 " SAMPLING AND AtlALYSIS OF PLANT EFFLUENTS" RE: Pilgrim Nutlear Power Station We have completed our review of your October 16, 1981 submittal on this subject, as clarified by subsequent discussions with the NRC staff, and find that sufficient information to meet the objectives of Attachment 2 of Item II.F.1, NUREG-0737, has been provided.

Specifically Boston Edison Company has (1) described acceptable provisions for detemining iodine releases from plant effluent release points by field neasurements of the radioindine accumulated on filter - adsorber cartridges and (2) stated that procedures have been prepared for sample retrieval and transport, and for either the detemination of radioactivity retained on cartridge by laboratory analysis or by gross measurement using distance and shielding parameters and monograms for I-131 release determination.

Consequently, we find your description of the provisions taken by Boston Edison Company to satisfy Attachment 2 of Item II.F.1 to be satisfactory and consider this item resolved for Pilgrim.

In view of the above, no further response is necessary to our March 1,1932 letter on this subject.

Sincerely, an a LG i
