Docket No. 50-285

Dear Mr. Collins:

Subject:

IE Inspection Report 81-35, Finding 4, Regarding Respiratory Protection Omaha Public Power District's letter to the Commission dated March 18, 1982 detailed the District's program and schedule for resolving the subject concern. As part of the District's program, we had identified a need for 18 additional self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA's) and, in our March 18, 1982 letter, we committed to ordering these by April 1,1982. This letter is provided to clarify the District's commitment.

The District has implemented the purchasing process on the 18 SCBA's.

The first step in this process, in accordance with existing District purchasing procedures, requires written quotations from the available vendors.

These quotations have been requested, but it could be several weeks to a month before the actual ordce can be placed with a vendor.

By requesting quotations, the District has met the intended comitment of our March 18, 1982 letter and we will continue to expedite the ordering and placing in operation of the 18 SCBA's.
