Subject:

Mark I Containment Program Plant Unique Analysis Report Cooper Nuclear Station NRC Docket No. 50-298, DPR-46

Dear Mr. Vassallo:

The District has completed the evaluation and requalification of the various containment structures 2nd components at Cooper Nuclear Station in conformance with Mark I Containment Program requirements. As a result of the requalifi-

/]

cation work, significant modifications were designed in accordance with NRC E

Acceptance Criteria and installed over the past six years to increase design safety margins.

Planning and procurement for the final Mark I Containment Program plant modifications is currently in progress. These modifications are scheduled for completion by September 30, 1982.

However, procurement lead times will delay installation of safety related components for the safety relief valve logic system. A formal request for a license change will follow after the May 1982 refueling outage.

Twenty copies of the Plant Unique Analysis Report documenting the evaluation and requalification effort are provided for your review.

Detailed documen-tation of the assumptions, load definitions, analysis and design work, etc.,

which form the basis for this report, are on file and available upon request.

We trust that this report will satisfy your requirements.

Should you have any comments or questions regarding this subm2.ttal, please do not hesitate to contact me.

o A 6' Sincerely, i

M
