This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. R. J. Bailey
of this office on November 16-20, 1981 at Three M(le Island Nuclear Station,
Unit 1, Middletown, Pennsylvania of activities authorized by NRC License No.
DPR-50 and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. Bailey with members of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the item of non-
compliance brought to your attention in the enclosure to our letter dated December
18, 1981. We have no further questions regarding your action at this time.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspection
and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no items of noncompliance were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 of the NRC's regulations, documentation of
security measures for the physical protection of special nuclear materials and
certain plar.t equipment vital to the safety of production or utilization facilities
are deemed to be Safeguards Information.
Each person who produces, receives or
acquires Safeguards Information is required to ensure that it is protected
against unauthorized disclosure. Therefore, except for the report cover sheet,
the enclosure to this letter will not be placed in the Public Document Room and
will be distributed pursuant to 10 CFR 73.21 (c).
