BEAVER VALLEY ATOMIC POWER STATION, UNIT N05. 1 AND 2, REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELATED TO CHANGE REQUESTS 205 AND 71 (TAC NOS. M85081 and M85082)

On December 30, 1992, Duquesne Light Company (DLC) submitted an application to amend the Appendix A Technical Specifications (TS) for Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit I and Unit 2.

The proposed application would revise the IS to allow sleeving of selected steam generator tubes. Our review of this application is underway, but for us to complete our review we require additional information.

The required additional information is described in the Enclosure.

DLC is requested to provide a response by March 12, 1993 so that the staff can continue its review on the schedule you have requested.

Questions 1 and 2 were discussed on,lanuary 26, 1993 with Mr. Sovick of your staff, and questions 3 through 10 on February 23, 1993.

The requirements of this letter affect fewer than 10 respondents, and, i

therefore, are not subject to the Office of Management and Budget review under FL 96-511.

Please confirm that the Westinghouse laser welded free span joint will be post weld stress relief heat treated.

An expanded discussion is needed of the "no detrimental effects expected" on the lower tube to tube sheet seal weld.

Provide the maximum and minimum dimensions for the outside diameter (7/8" 0.0. nominal) and wall thicknesses (.050" nominal) of the tubes.
