SAFETY EVALUATION BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION l
PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY HUMBOLDT BAY POWER PLANT, UNIT NO, 3 DOCKET NO. 50-133 By letter dated October 28, 1981, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (the licensee) requested an exemption undar 10 CFR 20.501 from the " calendar quarter" defir.ition provided in 10 CFR 20.3(a)(4) as it applies to the licensee's radiation exposure asse;sment program. The exemption is for the purpose of pennitting the licensee to shorten the final 1981 calendar quarter, so that the quarter commences the first of the 1982 calendar year on January 1,1982 (rather than January 15, 1932 as would otherwise be the case). We have found the proposed extmption accept 6ble.
This exemption is authorized by law and will not r.esult in undue hazard to life and property.
We have concluded, based on the considerations discussed above, that because the exemption does not involve a significant increase in the probability or consequences of accidents previously considered and does not involve a significant decrease in a safety margin, the exemption does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
