We are applying for an exemption under 10 CFR 20.501
(
the " calendar quarter" definition provided in 10 CFR 20.3(a) (4) it applies to our radiaticn exposure assessment program.
Our current calenchr quarters are:
January 15 - April 14 April 15
- July 14 July 15
- October 14 October 15 - January 14 We desire to change the quarterly observaticn periods beginning January 1, 1982 to:
January 1 - March 31 April 1
- June 30 July 1
- Septanber 30 October 1 - December 31.

Mr. Frank J. Miraglia October 28, 1981 Our proposed change of quarterly observation periods beginning January 1, 1982 is permitted by the last senten of 10 TR 20.3(a) (4).
Shifting the new quarterly observation period to January 1, 1982, however, will pla us in non-cmplian for the fourth quarter of 1981.
because 10 CFR 20.3(a)(4) requires an observation period to be not less than 12 consecutive weeks. The final 1981 observation period after the shift would consist of only a 10-week record (October 15 - December 31).
huefore, we are requesting an exeuption frm the "12 week" requirement for the fourth quarter of 1981 by reason of beginring a new observation period on January 1, 1982.
