AMENDMENT NO. 8 TO CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 1031 FOR THE MAGNASTOR STORAGE SYSTEM
Dear Mr. Fowler:
As requested by your application dated September 12, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18257A079), as supplemented on November 11, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18331A180), June 14, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No.ML19171A269), and July 16, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19199A151),
enclosed is Amendment No. 8 to the Certificate of Compliance No. 1031 for the MAGNASTOR storage system. This amended certificate issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) constitutes the approval and conditions for use of the MAGNASTOR storage system for storage of spent nuclear fuel under the general license provisions of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 72, Subparts K and L. The amendment deletes Technical Specification A5.6 and revises the maximum pellet diameter in TS, Appendix B, Table B2-3 from 0.325 inches to 0.3255 inches for the CE16H1 hybrid fuel assembly.
As stated in the Federal Register (85 FR 1096, January 9, 2020), the effective date of this certificate is March 24, 2020. The NRC safety evaluation report for this amended certificate (including the Technical Specifications) is enclosed.
