The Commission has issued the enclosed Exemption from certain require-ments of Appendix-R to 10 CFR Part 50 for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station,-Unit 1, in response to your. letters dated January 12, 1987 and July 31, 1989. The subject regulations are related to the requirements to provide fire protection features for systems and components important to safe shutdown-of the plant and to the requirement for emergency lighting units inside and outside the plant in the event of a fire.
The Exemption is enclosed.
A copy of the' Exemption is being filed with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
