Inspection No. 50-412/81-06
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. G. Walton of
this office on August 3-7, 1 7-21 and September 30, 1981 at the Beaver Valley
Power Station, Unit 2 Shippingport, Pennsylvania of activities authorized by
NRC License No. CPPR-105 and to the discussions of our findings held by fir. G.
Walton with Mr. D. Denning of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspection
and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that one of your activities
was not conducted in full compliance with NP,C requirements, as set forth in
the Notice of Violation, enclosed herewith as Appendix A.
This item of noncompli-
ance has been cateoorized into the levels described in the Federal Register
Notice (45 FR 66754) dated October 7, 1980. This notice is sent to you pursuant
to the provisions of Section 2.201 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations. Although Section 2.201 requires you to
submit to this office, within 30 days of your receipt of this notice, a written
statement or explanation, we note that this '. tem of noncompliance was corrected
prior to the completion of our inspection and your corrective action has been
reviewed by the inspector; therefore, no additional response with respect ' '
this matter is required.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Corr:ission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC s Public Document
Room.
If this report contains any information that you or your contractors)
believe to be exempt from disclosure under 10 CFR 9.5(a) 4), it is necessary
that you (a) notify this office by telephone within ten 10) days from the
