Enclosed is NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-1887 for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1, which authorizes receipt, possession and use of 12 excore detectors containing a total of less than six (6) g 2ssU.
Your application for license status that shipment of excore detectors will be made in accordance with ANSI 45.2.2.
It should be noted that packaging and shipping must be in accordance with 10 CFR Part 71, " Packaging of Radioactive Material for Transport and Transportation of Radioactive Material Under Certair.

In this regard, your attention is directed to 571.12(b) of Part 71 which provides a general license under specified conditions for the use of certain shipping packages which have been licensed for use by another licensee.
The Nuclear Regulatory Comission (Commission) uses an electronic data processing system to record the location, by licen:ee, of special nuclear material. This system uses a three-letter Reporting Identification Symbol to identify licensees who submit material transfer reports and periodic materials status reports in accordance with 570.53 and 570.54 of the Comission's Regulations,10 CFR Part 70.
For this purpose, you have been assigned the following Reporting Identification Symbol: XYW. This symbol is to be used in completing the transfer reports and periodic material status reports and should be used in any other correspondence with the NRC relative to such reports. You should also note the requirements of 5570.51(b), (c), and (d) regarding records, material control and accounting pro-cedures, and physical inventories. Your cooperation will be appreciated.
