1985 900,000 KW - UNITS 1 & 2 DEFICIENCIES IN BOLTED STRUCTURAL STEEL CONNECTIONS, ITEM 112
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On December 29, 1982, Mr. A. Hardin of the NRC was notified of a potentially reportable item per provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The deficiencies consisted of undersized bolts and flame cut bolt holes (which are oversir.4 and exceed minimum edge diatance) in bolted structural connections in the seismically designed Unit #1 Turbine Building.
These structural deficiencies are being evaluated in conjunction with other deficiencies identified to date (Items 90, 92, and 102), and reported to the NxC, and re-inspection of the Turbine Building is continuing in order to identify any additional examples of this and other previously reported deficiencies.
We expect the re-inspection and evaluation to be complete by April 15, 1983.
We will keep you informed of our progress and evaluations on this item until completed.
l Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Very truly yours, M
