Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On October 14, 1982, Mr. C. Hehl of the NRC was notified of a potentially reportable item per the provision of 10CFR50.55(e). The 480 volt switchgear from the vendor (Brown-Boveri) contained weld deficiencies. We also stated that this item was not reportable per the provisions of 10CFR, Part 21; this, however, after further evaluation, is not correct. This item is also considered potentially reportable per 10CFR, Part 21.
At the present time, the vendor is still evaluating the welding on their cabinets, and do not expect to be complete with this until the later part of December.
For this reason, we would request an extension until January 7, 1983 for sub-mitting a report on the reportability of this item.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Yours very truly, g
