Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On June 2, 1983, Mr. K. V. Hate' notified the NRC (Mr. A. Hardin) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Mr.
Hardin was informed that thirty-four (34) Unit No. 1 backdraft dampers (Seismic Class I) were received from Ruskin Manufacturing Company with one (1) counterbalance arm assembly in lieu of the required two (2).
CP&L is currently awaiting shake test results from Wyle Laboratories in order to complete our evaluation. The test results are expected to be received by July 15, 1983. For this reason, we are requesting an exten-sion until August 8, 1983 for submitting a report on the reportability of this item.
