Licensed Operator Requalification Retake Examination On February 6,1990 an NRC written requalification retake examination was administered at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3.

The i

written examination was administered in accordance with NUREG-1021. ES-601, Revision 5. " Administration of NRC Requalification Program Evaluations".

The purpose of the examination was to reexamine a licensed Reactor Operator who was graded as unsatisfactory by the NRC in the written portion of the August through Septenber 1989 NRC evaluation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3, Requalification Program. The licensed operator was required to be reexamined, by the NRC, within six months of the initial failure notification-to the operator.

Details and findings of the examination are contained in Examination Report.

50-361/CL-90-01 Enclosure 1, of this letter.

The g ading of the licensed operator's written reexamination indicates that the operator has satisfactorily passed the'requalification examination.

It is a requirement of 10 CFR 55.57(b)(2)(iv) that all. applicants for license renewal pass an NRC administered written and operating examination, during the term of a six year license, prior to the renewal of the operating license.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, a copy of this letter and Enclosure-1 will be placed in the public document room.
