f. required per Technical Specification 6.7.0.1. l t;

.l Resoonset The service water radiation monitor checks for potential l contamination within the service water system which is a nonradioactive system. The service water radiation monitor has ]

been considered inoperable during closed and hybrid' cycle operation, and when the plant is not operating due to lack of sufficient dilution flow which affects system sensitivity.-

Procedura1' changes have been made revising the method of I

l assessing the sensitivity requirements for the monitor. These changes were completed on September 29, 1989. A sample of I reactor coolant is taken and analyzed twice per week. A Composite Maximum Permissible Concentration (CMPC) is determined for the coolant. If the CMPC is greater than the Service Water Rad Monitor Setpoint Equivalent, then the monitor is sufficiently sensitive to detect leakage into the service water from the reactor coolant. .If the CMPC.is less than or equal to the Service Water Rad Monitor Setpoint Equivalent, then daily "I

r samples of service water are collected and analyzed to ensure y that release limits are not exceeded. ,
