REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF USI A-46 RESOLUTION FOR OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION In your letter of September 15, 1989 you indicated that since it is now projected that the final NRC SER for USI A-46 implementation will be delayed at least until the end of calendar year 1989, the anticipated plant walkdown associated with the resolution of USI A.46 must be deferred at least one refueling outage (i.e., from the 14R refueling outage scheduled for December 1992 to the 15R refueling scheduled for October 1994).
We have reviewed your revised walkdown schedule and find that the deferment of the walkdown schedule to Cycle 15 is unnecessary and unjustified. The staff has determined that GPUN keep the original walkdown schedule for completion during the 14R outage.
The staff's projection date of issuance for the final NRC Supplemental SER for USI A.46 implementation is before June 1990.
Based on this projection, there is at least a time span of two and half years which is sufficient for GPUN to complete the Oyster Creek plant walkdown for USI A-46.
