DRESDEN UNIT ILDRS-2 DOCKET #050-237 During a normal shutdown of Dresden Station Unit 2 Reactor, the quarterly timing surveillance of the main steam isolation valves was performed. The surveillance testing revealed that MSIVs 2-203-1A and 2-203-1D had closure times of 2.1 and 1.7 seconds, respectively.

Technical Specification Table 3.7.1 requires closure time limits of between 3 and 5 seconds. Minimal effect upon public health and safety because remaining MSIV closure times were within Tech. Spec. limits and all valves were operable.

There have been similar occurrences at Dresden with last being R. O. #81-ll/03L-0.

I The timing mechanisms on MSIVs 2-203-1A and 2-203-lD became misadjusted during normal plant operation. The MSIVs were adjusted and retimed resulting in times of 3.4 seconds for 2-203-1A and 3.7 seconds for 2-203-lD.

The quarterly timing surveillance of the main steam isolation valves will continue i

to be performed to ensure proper closure times are maintained.
