DESCRIPTION OF EVENT

on May 29, 1981, with Unit No. 2 at 1007. power, fuel oil transfer pump 1B suction-valve, 1-EE-14, was found to be closed. This is contrary to Tech. Spec. 3.16.A.5 and is reportable per Tech. Spec. 6.6.2.b.(2). Transfer pump 1B is one of two fuel oil pumps that supplies fuel oil to the #2 EDG wall tank. The suction valve had been closed for less than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />, therefore in accordance with Tech.~ Spec.

No. 2 EDG remained operable throughout this event.

PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES AND STATUS OF REDUNLANT EQUIP 3ENT:

The Emergency Diesel Generators provide power to viral equipment in the event of a loss of off-site power. The redundant ft.el oil flow cath No. 2 EDG remained operable throughout this event. Therefore, the health and safety of the public were not affected.

CAUSE

The v-lve had been closed while dewatering the fuel oil storage tanks as described in LER 81-036/03L-0.

I The suction valve, 1-EE-14, uns opened.

SUBSEQUENT CORRECTIVE ACTION:

None required.

Operating personnel have been provided instructions regarding the control systems during abnormal situations.
