BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION.. RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 89 13 SERVICE WATER SYSTEM PROBLEMS AFTECTING SAFETY.RELATED EQUIPMENT (TAC No. 73963 and 73964)

By letter dated January 29, 1990, you submitted the first of two required responses L

to the subject generic letter. Noting that you have committed to each of the i

five recommended actions of GL 89 13, or to an equally effective alternative i

course of action for one or more of them, we accept your response as fulfilling i

this requirement of the generic letter.

We remind you that if a licensee chooses a course of action different from the recommended actions of the generic letter, the licensee should document and retain in appropriate plant records a justification that the heat removal requirements of the service water system are satisfied by use of the alternative

+

program.

We look forward to receiving the second (i.e. confirmt. tion of action completion) of the two required responses to GL 89-13.
