In regard to the Semiannual _ Effluent Release Report for the first and second quarters of 1989, the Safety Review Committee has identified information that was inadvertently omitted from that report, pertaining to an unplanned release that occurred on May 1, 1989. A review of this omission determined that:it was a result of a misinterpretation of the sampling requirements followin?.c' reactor trip.

In order to preclude a similar misinterpretation from occes vog, instructions regarding the sampling _ actions required after a reactor trip have been issued to the appropriate personnel. Attached is a

description of the May 1,1989, release and a revised Gaseous Effluent' Release Report.

lifted.

The activity of the radioactive material released was very small i

(less than 1% of the quarterly limit) and no adverse consequences are j
