^2N DAUPHIN COUNTY HARRisBURG PENNSYLVANIA February 9, 1981 Mr. John F. Ahearne, Chairman U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555
Dear Mr. Ahearne:
I have received a copy of Governor Dick Thornburgh's letter of February 2.
In the letter, the Governor is withdrawing the three State representatives and replacing them with three observers.
The Advisory Panel is concerned about this action in the sense that it reduces the membership of the Panel to nine and could present a problem in obtaining a quorum in future meetings.
I can cert'ainly appreciate why the Governor has taken this course of action and do not object to it.
I have written the Governor and asked him to consider at least one voting State representative, and am awaiting his reply.

The Panel has expressed that we would like to have three knowledge-able voting representatives and in fact some names have been sub-mitted to me for consideration.
In the event the Governor does not change his position on this matter, and you are interested in chose names, I will be delighted to share them with you.
Awaiting your response, I am Sincerely yours,
'i
