Gentlemen:
Ttis refers to the telephone conversation between Mr. R. D. Machon of your staff and Mr. E. J. Brunner of this office on October 31, 1980 regarding the most recent Reactor Coolant System Depressurization at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1.which occurred on October 31, 1980.
With regard to the matters discussed, we understand that you will perform the following:
1)
The nitrogen supply system to the SRVs will remain isolated and tagged.
2)
Frequency'of containment air sampling will be increased to once per shift for 7 days.
3)
Cur-resident inspector will verify implementation of items 1 and 2 prior to the resumption of operation.
4)
The NRC will be provided with an evaluation of system modifications and testing for concurrence prior to restoration of,the nitrogen system back into service.
